Overview
What is CA 72.4; GASTRIC CANCER MARKER ?
CA72.4 is a protein in the blood which is usually increased in patients suffering from stomach cancer. This test is used to monitor the status of stomach cancer during & after treatment. It should not be used as a screening test for the population because many other conditions also increase the CA72.4 levels in blood. The addition of other cancer markers like CEA & CA19.9 increases the sensitivity of the test.
